I agree that it was close and I agree that Lytle should have gotten the decision, but it wasn't a
horrible decision in my mind. They could have had it go 3 more rounds, it would still have come down to the judges. Serra would have just hugged Lytle against the fence for 3 more rounds. What difference does it make? Serra wasn't going to submit Lytle (he couldn't even really get him down) and he sure as hell wasn't going to KO him. Lytle on the other hand "could" KO Serra, but Matt would just hug him the whole time.
Either guy would be dogmeat in there with St. Pierre, but "Lights Out" Lytle would at least make for a more entertaining fight. Matt is just going to try to hug Georges for 5 rounds. It seems that the UFC continues to desperately try to get Matt Serra over. Why? He's a middle of the pack guy at 155 lbs. and has absolutely no business fighting at 170 lbs.
Bottom line: Georges "Rush" St. Pierre by whatever he damn well feels like at pretty much whenever he feels like it. Barring divine intervention, Matt Serra is not getting GSP to the ground. Matt couldn't even get Chris Lytle to the ground. If he keeps trying to shoot singles or doubles, he's going to keep failing and eventually eat a nasty knee or kick. He can try to hug GSP and have sex with him up against the fence like he did with Lytle, but GSP is way too quick, agile, and strong. He will toss "the Terror" aside like a a toy. That leaves stand-up. Zero chance of Serra doing anything to GSP here. I don't even think his stubby little arms could reach that far. GSP can basically pick him apart and KO him whenever. Who knows, though, once he catches Serra with a clean shot he may try to get on him and submit him just to show off. I bet "Rush" could do it too.
