This has been talked about alot on here. You got guys saying Silva, some saying Lindland. But for me its gotta be Paulo Filho. The guys is a beast at that weight. I dont see him losing anytime soon.
I said Silva deserves respect.. I didnt say he was the best. Personally Hendo is my favorite at 185 so I'm gonna say him. If he beats Silva at Pride 33, then I think its fair to say him. But if Matty boy beats Fedor (HIGHLY UNLIKELY) then you could make a case for him, shit you could make a case for all 5 of these guys. Until you see a 185 tourny with the best of that weight class... you cant really say.

After watching Silva last night. I dont see how he could beat a guy like Filho. That guy is tailor made to beat a guy like Silva. He is a match up nightmare for Silva. I dont wanna sound like Im bashing Anderson because he impressed me with his ability to fight off his back. But having a guy like Filho on top of you is alot different than havin Travis Lutter on top of you.

this is something for philosophers to discuss. it is unanswerable. taking into considerations fighting styles backgrounds and questioning maybe the fighter just had a good or bad night.
to hard to say who is the best of any weight class. this is why many organizations have best of 3 fights.
im a franklin fan all the way, silva=perfect striker but this is a big bandwagon for the most part. people seen this awsome striker clean house on leban, who i might add isn't that great heavy handed yes technical no way. then silva did pick franklin apart with that wicked clinch but i still lean towards franklin.
we could fight this question all day and night and come to no conclusion.
Guys the question is whos the best, not who you like the most... personally i dont like Filho's fighting style, which is the exact same as Arona.. Those guys arent brothers, but they sure fight and look the same way.. super body built, agressive strikes and agressive takedowns, then control ur opponent all the way down the ground. But like it or not, both of them are strong, and their style has proven to be hard to beat.
A. Silva is great standing up, his guard is pretty strong(i think he calls it the spider guard?), but no way hes that dominant against a guy like filho. If hes smart, the best he can do would be some kind of Arona vs Silva 2, and that wasnt one sided at all.

Filho might be a bad match up for Silva but perhaps Anderson would be able to fight him from his back. If you think about it great striking + great bjj is as good as great striking + a great sprawl.
I still think both Filho, Lindland, and hendo are bad match ups for Silva, Silva is a bad match for Kang and Franklin(obviously), Hendo and Lindland are bad match ups for Filho. So I guess that leaves the Team Quest boys battling it out for number one according to that analogy but I dont I think I'd still put Filho at #1. This weights impossible to rank.
