It's a rare moment when referees are not only NOT raked over the coals, but are actually PRAISED by sports fans. Yet, in MMA, it's almost routine to praise (certain) referees.

Big John and now Herb Dean, are absolutely first rate, and Yves, despite a few missteps, is the essence of professionalism. Azzagatti I can't stand and Dan M sucks on a semi-consistent basis, but still, to have ANY refs at all as regular recipients of praise in a sport is pretty amazing.

Now, if only we could get Big John back on good terms with Dana and the NSAC...

And yeah, the judging needs to be cleaned up and overhauled, but very often even if I disagree with a decision, I can see the logic behind them.
