Another thing you need to consider in your training is what kind of calories your getting. If your eating 4000 calories a day by eating 3 bigmacs it wont help you much. Now if your eating chicken and tuna and eggs and vegetables to reach your 4000 cals you will grow. remember diferent calories get processed diferently by our bodies so we gotta feed ourselves the calories that are useful to our bodies. not junk or empty calories.
