yes sounds like a deep muscle injury. I had one of these in my thigh for months after getting kicked in the leg by another amateur mma fighter. the injury probably feels much deeper into your body than it really is. does any certain movement hurt? like stretching from one side to the other, front to back, or laying on your front?
