Because it counts all of his UFC fight I think... and 5 of his fights have ended in the 1st round (2 of them in less than 2 min), he has 4 fights ended in the 2nd round... I know it still has to be a high avg. fight lenght, but maybe not enough to be at the top.

How does gsp be top 5 in Strikes absorbed per min and significant strike defence? I guess it could mean he and his opponents throw strikes at a super high volume...

#7 ·
It looks like strikes absorbed per min is the fewest strikes per minute, not the highest. So it makes sense that he'd be near the top of both.

I'm not enamored with Fightmetric for judging purposes but this is an interesting list. Thanks for posting.

How is GRAY MAYNARD not in the "Longest fights avg"?? I would think he is a sure in.

Also

Which one surprised you guys the most?? For me it was seeing John Howard being second in the "Take-down accuracy". Probably just because whenever i see him fight he just swings like a nut.

The one that put a smirk on my face was seeing Cheik Kongo in a takedown attempts category.

It doesn't say GSP hits the most on average. It says hes landed the most strikes period (which is where his amount of time in the octagon helps) but isn't even on the list of most strikes per minute (which is where his octagon time kind of hurts).

Obviously fudged stats.

Two examples:

Machida has absorbed and average of 1.20 strikes per minute? Until he fought Shogun he was the least hit fighter in all of MMA. 0.60 times per round. How does three fights in which he is hit as often as everyone else make him the most hit fighter on the list?

Also, as said before. Anderson Silva should have the most significant striking defense. The gif included says it all.

Some of you guys are taking this to literal. These are averages of every fight they've had in the UFC. You can't use one fight as an example of why the stat is wrong.

I'm guessing you have no idea what an average is. This is the only way to get fair statistics. If you have another method, by all means, share. You're also reading the stat wrong. Being the in the strikes absorbed per minute is a good thing. The 10 people on that list are the people who get hit the LEAST. Not the most. If you did the math you'd realize that quite easily.
