Round 1 - Kim Winslow calls this welterweight bout. Ellenberger lands left hook right off the bat and gets a takedown, but Rocha quickly gets up and presses him against the cage. Winslow removes Rocha's hand from the cage. Rocha is looking for a hip toss and leaves himself open to a takedown. Ellenberger dumps him, but Rocha quickly is up again. Ellenberger misses on a hook and collides into Rocha, and Rocha gets on top as the two spill to the mat. Rocha spins around to side guard and looks to attack Ellenberger's left arm. Ellenberger corrects his position while Rocha bides his time. Not a good place for Ellenberger to be. Rocha goes to north-south and almost locks up an inverted triangle, but Ellenberger escapes. Rocha is all over him and briefly mounts before being bucked back to side mount. Rocha steps back to north-south and looks for a kneebar. Ellenberger fighting him but not having much luck. Ellenberger escapes out the side door and gets back to his feet. Great sequence. Rocha misses with a high kick. Ellenberger lands a knee as Rocha gets in close. Rocha goes high with a kick. Rocha catches a kimura as they collide again and rolls Ellenberger to the mat. Rocha switches to a straight armbar and nearly gets it as the round comes to an end. It's all Rocha on the scorecards, 10-9.

Round 2 - Rocha leads with a leg kick. Ellenberger punches in and lands a couple of knees from the clinch before peeling off. They collide again, and Rocha turtles up and eats some punches before coming to his senses and getting out of the dangerous position. He hints at a takedown. Ellenberger with a few jabs. The wrestler's rhythm has been completely thrown off by the threat of submissions from takedowns and the clinch. Ellenberger misses with a hook and gets out quickly as Rocha closes. Rocha goes high with two kicks that are blocked. Ellenberger leaps in with a knee. Halfway through the round. They both miss with punches. Ellenberger goes low with a kick. All that grappling has slowed things down in the punching department. Rocha changes levels as Ellenberger comes in. Rocha leaps with a knee as Ellenberger closes, but he misses. Ellenberger throwing one punch at a time and not having much luck. Neither is Rocha, though. Ellenberger with a kick to the body. Ellenberger closes and gets an easy takedown in the closing seconds of the round. Rocha throws a leg up for a triangle as the round ends. Close frame, but it goes to Ellenberger for the takedown at the end of the round, 10-9.

Round 3 - They touch gloves in the final frame. Rocha misses with a low kick. Ellenberger lands leg kick as Rocha misses with a punch. Rocha with a nice counter hook. Rocha takes the steam out of incoming punch with a low kick. Ellenberger cautiously advancing. Ellenberger misses with a combination as he gets close, and Rocha pitches to the canvas again trying to bait Ellenberger to the mat. No dice there. Rocha misses with a spinning high kick but lands a low kick. Midway through the round. Both miss with a combo. Ellenberger with a big right off a kick. He jabs in. Rocha's kick is blocked. Ellenberger closes with a left hook. He misses with a follow up punch and misses on a takedown attempt. Rocha with a low kick. Ellenberger punches in again and clinches. A few knees land, then he peels off. Lots of staring going on. Rocha nails a glancing head kick but hits the mat in the process. Ellenberger doesn't pursue. Rocha with a few leg kicks. Ellenberger scores with a punch. Ellenberger catches a kick and takes Rocha down with 30 seconds on the clock. He postures up with a few elbows. Time ticking down. Rocha scoots away, and Ellenberger stands overhead. He fires down a punch and misses, and Rocha nearly takes his back in the process. Round ends, and it's Ellenberger by a nose on MMAjunkie.com's scorecard, 10-9, for a 29-28 victory. Jake Ellenberger def. Carlos Eduardo Rocha via split decision (27-30, 29-28, 29-28)
