The triangle is certainly hard to pull off correctly when you are first starting out. Have your instructor show you how to reposition your body so that the area where your shin and ankle meet, is directly secured underneath the back of your knee. It is very difficult to explain over a forum. If you don't sink a triangle fully and you still try and finish with it, your legs can get very tired and you will risk injuring your ankle or shin, in your case. Also make sure you regularly ice your shin, if it is still injured...the cold will expidite the healing process of your muscle
