it's something he's done since the pride days. let's also not forget that he used to wear a wolfman mask too, so this is actually toned down from the old times.

I think it's a reference to junkyard dog, the pro wrestler, as quentin was pretty amped on pro wrestling when he was in college and almost became one himself when he got out.
