mma13guy has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Moving your head back is an instinct just like blinking. When you flinch back its not because your timid, its because your human. Your coach is still correct. You need to tuck your chin and move your head on a slight angle (left right or down) so the punch does not hit you clean, but glances off your forehead. Have someone throw very slow punches at you and then gradually increase speed. I use the baseball analogy if your first day of little league the coach gives you 96 mph fast balls you will quit. Start on the tee and then work up speed gradually as your confidence and skill improve. I have some drills that could help. send a private message if interested in seeing them
