I think this really depends on where you take the Muay Thai classes. Try and see if you can join some lessons (usually most schools allow you to join some free trial lessons) to see if you're in a good enough shape and if the content of the lessons are what you're looking for (rough enough/not rough enough etc.).
So jump right in and join Muay Thai and if it's too much you can always choose to do cardio etc or find another school!
