It's all about ring savy. You know the style that a taller fighter is going to use. He's going to keep you on the end of his reach. The shorter fighter must use his legs and superior agilty to find holes in the defense of his taller opponent. In MMA it's not nearly as tough as it is in boxing. In MMA you only need to be competent enough so that you don't get blown away before you get in. In boxing after you get in, you can't hold him and you get separated quickly. However, even in boxing shorter fighters have been awesome. A shorter fighter NEEDS to go to a boxing gym. Lots of MMA fighters have chin up and hands low. A taller fighter gets away with this BS more than a shorter fighter can.
