Five fights have been added to the preliminary card of next month's Bellator 49 event. The event takes place Sept. 10 at Caesars Atlantic City in New Jersey, and the night's main card – which exclusively features opening-round matchups for a season-five welterweight tournament – airs on MTV2. In the featured prelim spot, featherweight Alexandre "Popo" Bezerra (10-1 MMA, 2-0 BFC) takes on Scott Heckman (7-2 MMA, 0-0 BFC). A Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt training in the U.S. with Daddis Fight Camps, Bezerra was a member of the Brazilian national wrestling team and also has an extensive background in boxing. Bezerra's lone career loss came via submission in a September 2009 bout with current UFC contender Charles Oliveira. The Pennsylvania-based Heckman has fought throughout the Northeast and won numerous titles while posting a 4-1 record in his past five fights. The former collegiate wrestler is a well-rounded fighter with solid jiu-jitsu skills. Other preliminary-card bouts include featherweights Kenny Foster (9-3 MMA, 2-1 BFC) vs. Andy Main (5-1 MMA, 0-0 BFC), welterweights Giedrius Karavackas (5-1 MMA, 0-0 BFC) vs. LeVon Maynard (11-7 MMA, 0-1 BFC), heavyweights Azunna Anyanwu (3-0 MMA, 0-0 BFC) vs. J.A. Dudley (4-7 MMA, 0-0 BFC), and featherweights Brylan Van Artsdalen (5-1 MMA, 0-0 BFC) vs. Joel Roberts (4-3 MMA, 0-0 BFC).
