No it's not. Science says "we don't know what it is
yet, so we use the term 'dark matter' as a place holder until we know better". That's a whole different approach than saying "God created the universe as it's written in the bible. End of story"

Yes, that's what science is about. One of the main principles of science
is falsification. Scientist witness a phenomenon, so based on beforehand knowledge they come up with a theory to explain that phenomenon. Then comes the fun part: they try to disprove their own theory (other scientist join in in that trial). And as long as the theory works they assume that it is the most likely explanation of the phenomenon.
Science and Religion are completely different approaches. Science is scepticism also towards their own theories, religion is blind believe even against better evidence.
