Science says a large proportion of the universe is made up of "dark matter"
Something we cant see, hear or detect in any way. Something we assume is there because of other unexplainable factors.
Sounds to me like Science is as ridiculous as religion.
No it's not. Science says "we don't know what it is yet
, so we use the term 'dark matter' as a place holder until we know better". That's a whole different approach than saying "God created the universe as it's written in the bible. End of story"
As the gentleman above me said. We dont know shit about shit. The only absolutely consistent thing that Science has done over the years, is disprove itself.
Yes, that's what science is about. One of the main principles of science is
falsification. Scientist witness a phenomenon, so based on beforehand knowledge they come up with a theory to explain that phenomenon. Then comes the fun part: they try to disprove their own theory (other scientist join in in that trial). And as long as the theory works they assume that it is the most likely explanation of the phenomenon.
Science and Religion are completely different approaches. Science is scepticism also towards their own theories, religion is blind believe even against better evidence.
