No, popular demand doesn't - having universe sized plot holes, having no understanding of what any of your crew (that you spend 100+ hours getting to know) are doing after it's all over, having no idea about the result of any of your decisions throughout the game are, and having 0 of your choices effect the outcome of the ending (which was advertised majorly by Bioware, btw, that your ending would be special for you depending on how you played all the 3 games) make it correct for them to make a new ending.
