"[Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen] is the biggest everything in UFC history. It's the biggest rivalry, the biggest fight. We broke every record as far as the business goes that we've ever had this weekend…. This one was pretty decisive. He's beat him twice. It's not like this is the rubber match. He beat him twice. He beat him. Chael is in a position that most guys are -- when you go on a run at the title, and you lost two times, back at the end of the line." http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ZIEdaLWSox0
I'd honestly like to see a third fight because nobody else besides Rashad or Bisping (stretch) interests me, but I get why they wouldn't do that. I doubt it broke all these business records; I have a hard time believing it will top Lesnar/Carwin, Lesnar/Couture, or Lesnar/Cain, let alone UFC 100.
This, so much this. Chael is the only person who's ever even given him a challenge and he actually almost beat him. He showed that he has the prowess to do it again, too, with the way the first round went.
The end of the line as in the line of real contenders not all MWs. So basically he needs to win 3-4 fights against contenders and he will fight him again instead of 2. It isn't like he has to go back to fighting cans and moving up the ranks.
Not a shock to hear. STill want him to keep fighting regardless of who he fights. All I know is Sonnen is going to ruin a lot of MWs winning streaks. Im sure not a lot of MWs are lining up to fight Chael.
that's to be expected. it won't be literally at the back of the line but he'll have to win 2 or 3 more fights and anderson will have to fight 2 or 3 new opponents before he gets a shot again. even if anderson somehow loses along the way chael will still have to win a few more fights before getting into title contention again.
Funny as it may seem, if Chael was to go to WWE I would watch it :thumb02:. He has that Rockist mic persona and can TRT all he wants. Not a hater though, I think he has many good fights left in the UFC. Him losing to Silva isn't really relevant to 95% of the other MW fighters as he has the ability to beat the majority.
I Just can't get excited for the Middleweight anymore because whoever challenges for the title is going to get owned by Silva, it's not even a challenge for him.
