I broke my wrist and a sports physician told me something interesting...he said that I should keep training my good arm because the human body will not allow one limb to grow completely disproportionally to the other. Even if you tried your damnedest to only work out one half of your body it would be a little stronger and maybe a little more defined but you would not end up with one giant arm and leg and one skinny one. I followed his advice and he was right...I had the cast on for six weeks and other than the skin turning yellow I didn't lose a lot of size.
You beat me to it! This is 100% correct. Granted the non-lifting arm will be weaker and maybe even smaller, depends on how long it's in a cast, but it will actually benefit from working out the other arm.
