Round 2 - Hieron still looks a touch quicker, but he's not capitalizing early. Ellenberger patient on the outside. Jab for Ellenberger, and he blocks a kick in return. Switch kick scores for Hieron. He moves in on a leg again, but he's unable to pull his opponent down. Hieron kicks the leg, and he's had some success with that. He leaps in with a hook, but Ellenberger slips it and drives right into a powerful takedown. Hieron pulls guard, and we're halfway into the round. Hieron bleeding a bit, and he ultimately kicks Ellenberger away before he can really score points. Hieron wiping the nose quite a bit, which is bleeding a little more. He misses a few front kicks as we enter the final minute. Spinning strike from Hieron misses. Ellenberger patient on the outside. Hieron hangs his arms to bait him in. Ellenberger won't bite. He looks like he wants to unleash, but he holds back. Round ends, and MMAjunkie.com sees it for Ellenberger, 10-9.

Round 3 - Both fighters let their hands go a bit to open, but neither connects flush. Hieron still working his kicks. Ellenberger reaches with a right, but Hieron can't counter in time. Accidental front kick to Ellenberger's groin halts the action, but just for a moment. Hieron amps up the effort on the kicks. Ellenberger drives in for a takedown, but he can't hold Hieron down. Hieron definitely seems to be pushing in the final round. Ellenberger still patient, but it might be too patient. Two minutes left. Ellenberger controlling the center, and he comes up short on a takedown. Ellenberger stalking but not letting go. Crowd urges the pair to step it up in the closing minute. Hieron won't present a stationary target as he moves side to side. Ellenberger tries for a takedown but never really threatens. Fight ends to a chorus of boos, though an off-balance Hieron does hit the floor at the end. MMAjunkie.com leans toward Hieron in the third, 10-9, but gives the fight to Ellenberger, 29-28. Jake Ellenberger def. Jay Hieron via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
