Wait are we talking judo or bjj here? If its judo **** the guard, if its bjj and he is most likely going to wrestle when he gets older, he needs to be fighting from the bottom now. So many people are great on top but don't execute because they fear the bottom.

I guess the issue is that the only label for the school is MMA.. To me, it's more of an introduction to martial arts and organized sports. If he were in the UFC he may be going to another school more geared towards competition (I think he's in the best school for our area right now though).. I just want to help him when we're at home because he goes twice a week and the other 5 days I could be working with him..
Anyway, I will definitely look in to working in guard.. he's like a spounge at this point so it's great to teach him things that are harder to learn for older students, etc..
