Let’s face it, the Los Angeles Police Department has never been known for their intelligence. Their racism and racial profiling, absolutely; but not their brains’ ability to harvest protein. The LAPD actually thought I was a drug dealer too. They searched my friend's BMW after they saw my watch and made the assumption that it could only have been purchased with money I obtained from selling cocaine to celebrities. Nevermind my former investment banking career… That’s like corporate minimum wage to LA’s Finest. Perhaps Southern California has a drug problem, or perhaps their police department is a huge fan of Michael Phelps, but Ian McCall was arrested a couple of weeks ago and here’s what he has to say on the MMA Hour about the experience.
“They thought I was a drug dealer. Don't know why. Well, actually, I know why. Someone that doesn't like me told them I was a drug dealer. An actual drug dealer that doesn't like me got busted -- I've seen the paperwork -- and said ‘oh, he's a drug dealer too.' And they came over to my house and they didn't find any drugs, they didn't find any text messages, they didn't find anything bad. So they're like ‘okay, you're not a drug dealer, but your probation officer said to come get you anyways because you have a suspended license.”
"It was embarrassing. Them taking me away in front of my daughter and my wife. They tore my house apart, they tore my car apart. I guess they were following me from the gym, and they said, ‘oh, it would be more embarrassing if you got arrested in front of your gym.' Well I'd much rather be arrested in front of my gym, where my coach is a lawyer, compared to me being arrested at my house, in front of my neighbors and my daughter. I don't know. Cops are stupid, and they really just wanted to come to the house and search the house. But, again, I'm not a drug dealer and I'm not being charged with selling drugs.”
If you didn’t picture Ian McCall twirling his moustache while reading the quote, go back and re-read it. It’ll be way more fulfilling the second time around. However, if you’re too busy to read it twice, you should probably get back to whatever it was you were doing. Ian McCall is out of jail and he's going to be fine. That's all that's important.
Well putting the bits and pieces together from the article, he is on probation, has a suspended license and was driving home (assumption) while the police were following him.
Maybe driving with a suspended license is more of an issue if you're on probation?
if you are on probation, even informal, you can be arrested if you are caught driving on a suspended licence, you can also have your car impounded for 30 days.. since they followed him home from the gym that's what they got him for.
Okay, what I got from that article is that the police received a tip from someone saying he's dealing. He is on probation therefore is subject to random search. The followed him home while he was driving on a suspended license (illegal in itself) and then searched his house. They ultimately arrested him for driving on a suspended license.
Then he calls the police stupid? Yeah. Great logic. Because police are mind readers and everyone is honest with them all the time. Also, I highly doubt the watch he was wearing had anything to do with it. That was merely fabrication made up in his mind because he's pissed over the incident.
What the Hell are you smoking? Just cause he is pissed some douche bag dealer fingered him to try and get some slack cut for himself, that Makes Ian 'Dirty' Yea so he was driving on a suspended licence. True it is illegal but ya know I can named 25 or 30 people I either know or work with that do the same everyday.
Just because he gave an interview while angry he is not dirty.
agreed, plus he doesnt have to state a logical reason for his claim of "stupid cops" to be true.. it is true this is just another case of the police not doing their job of "protecting and serving" the community.. they harass and oppress and that is all.
Ah, now I get it. Arresting someone for driving with a suspended license seems a bit... unneccessary to me, probation or not. Well, I guess it's the law.
I know nothing of the guy but I have learned a few things over the years, and one thing is usually where theres smoke, there's fire. I doubt he was just a innocent bystander who got caught up in a " big mistake".. sounds like they kept him a while too..
Lmao @ cops just harrass and oppress. The only people who say stuff like that are the kind of guys that complain when they get pulled over and claim racism or discrimination...but last week they had an ounce of weed in the car.
I do love the irony of someone who has a past with getting into trouble with the law calling police stupid for being suspicious of said person. Maybe if Ian hadn't been so "stupid" in his past, these "stupid" cops wouldn't have taken him in.
