Penn survives, but it's MacDonald's round on the MMAjunkie.com card, 10-9.

Round 2 - MacDonald with an early low kick. Crowd behind Penn, who is still moving forward and looking to engage. MacDonald back to work with a crisp jab. Penn against the cage, and MacDonald digs the body and taps the chin. MacDonald presses forward as Penn retreats to the cage. Penn catches a kick but can't do anything with it. Penn lands a stiff right hand, but he can't build on it. MacDonald kicks to the body, and Penn is hurt. He doubles over. Dean wants to step in, but he lets it go. Punches, kicks and knees for MacDonald as Penn doubles over. Dean yells and asks Penn if he wants out, but the fight carries on. Penn a warrior, but MacDonald is just unloading. Penn is trapped against the cage, and MacDonald is picking him apart. Penn's legacy all that's keeping this fight going. Penn finally does move off the cage with a few punches. MacDonald showboats a beat by shuffling his feet. Crowd doesn't like it. Final minute, and MacDonald scores a takedown. Not much there, but MMAjunkie.com scores the round for MacDonald, 10-8.

Round 3 - Doctors look at Penn, but the fight carries on. His left eye is swollen and black. Still, he pushes forward and into a clinch. Penn gets MacDonald to a knee, but the Canadian simply pops back up and spins off the cage. Penn looks up at the clock. MacDonald in tight, and Dean breaks them apart. MacDonald slips on a spinning kick, but Penn can't move in to capitalize. MacDonald seems to have let off the gas a little. He's comfortable moving into a clinch, though he does land a big elbow as he separates. Jab. Kick. It's all working for MacDonald. Halfway mark of the final frame. Penn trying to muster up something in the closing minutes, but MacDonald stands in front of him and shuffles his feet again. Into the clinch again. Dean breaks them apart. Superman punch for MacDonald. Left hand scores. MacDonald drops his hands and taunts Penn, who has nothing left to answer. Fight ends, and it's clearly a landmark win for MacDonald, who takes the final round 10-9 on the MMAjunkie.com card and earns the fight 30-26. Rory MacDonald def. B.J. Penn via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-27).
