Round 1 - Mark Carter oversees this first fight on the Showtime main card. Herman makes his Strikeforce debut, but he'll certainly be back in the UFC after this one. It's a catch-weight bout of 194 pounds. They bump fists, and we're under way. Herman works outside leg kicks early, then inside. They both come across with lefts at the same time. After a short excahnge, they tie up on the cage and trade elbows. Souza wants a knee, but they break. Herman is staying right in the pocket, but Souza drops down and gets a good double-leg. From his back, Herman is trying to kick his way out. Souza complains of an illegal upkick, and the ref will stop things. He warns Herman – but he'll start them back from standing and not on the ground, where Souza clearly had the better position. Big break for Herman. They trade back and forth, but Souza soon scoops Herman up and plants him again and is right into side control looking for a kimura. He's got it, and Herman is in a world of trouble. And that's it. Herman wisely taps rather than have his arm go bye-bye. Ronaldo Souza def. Ed Herman via submission (kimura) - Round 1, 3:10
