He's popular because two of his fights this year where FOTY, he gets bonuses, and he's a fairly likable guy. As for his resume not being "as good" that's highly debate-bale.

Dos Anjos 7-4
Tibau 11-6
Lauzon 8-5

All three UFC records are fairly even, but for Lauzon three of those loses (Pettis, Miller, Florian) were to top five guys while neither Dos Anjos and Tibau have even had a top five fight yet.

Seeing as how half the UFC events are FX/TUF/Fuel main eventing those cards is still main eventing. Are Dos Anjos and Tibau main eventing FX and Fuel? He's also main evented against Florian have either of those guys reached that level of competition where they are fighting title eliminators? He may not be in the MMA top ten but he's in the UFC top ten that's what wins over Guillard and Varner get you. Even if they were "heartless".
