Badr Hari, the bad boy of kickboxing is set to be released from prison for a second time. You might remember he was released originally in November of 2012, however Hari broke the rules of his probation. The court dictated that Badr Hari would not frequent any hospitality establishments (bars, clubs, restaurants) while he was awaiting trial. This time he faces the same condition where he cannot attend any hospitality establishment between the hours of 20.00 pm and 8.00 am.

It took three appeals from Hari’s lawyer Bénédicte Ficq to be grant approval for the release of Hari. The meeting occurred behind closed doors today in Amsterdam, where Mr Ficq was confident they would have success due to the prosecution being done with the hearing of witnesses today. The court said there were still some witnesses to be heard, yet not so important that Hari remain in prison prior to trial.

Badr Hari is facing multiple counts of violent crimes, the most serious of which was the assault on Koen Everink in July of 2012. He was hospitalized with severe facial injuries, and a broken ankle so bad that he is permanently disabled.

There has been several reports from Dutch news websites reporting Hari suffering from depression and severe weight loss in jail. Some claiming as much as 23kg’s of weight loss. It will be interesting to see how large an impact this has had on Hari, and his hopes of returning to the ring in the future. While he is released to await trial, he still faces a strong possibility of doing jail time for the alleged charges against him.

Let’s hope Hari can get his head on straight and stay out of trouble from here on out. It would be a shame to see such a talented fighter throw away the prime of their career over a bad temper, and poor decision making.
Badr Hari is back out again. Hopefully this time he doesn't do anything stupid and violate his parole conditions. Good chance he still ends up convicted and doing some time though.

So, Badr Hari, get your stuff straight please. You have a huge fan base. Every Romanian, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Arab, etc. dude loves you. You represent a culture. A generation. Regardless of his maturity he's been given a berth in the K-1 Grand Prix as a replacement for one of two guys that got injured. Judging from the quality of this year's Grand Prix I think he stands a chance at winning it. That is if he doesn't punch a man while he's down.
