MMA Documentary

I am a 32 years old aspiring writer, filmmaker and huge MMA fan based in Bristol, UK. I also VJ on the side.

I am currently between jobs due to the current financial climate. Rather than lie idle a thought a useful project might be a documentary talking to competing fighters about the ideas and possible philosophical/spiritual aspects of fight and combat sports. Specifically dealing with the journey from one fight to another and ideally following at least three different fighters. Capturing all the ups and downs. This would require quite a lot of access to the fighters to really convey the emotion and resilience required to compete in MMA. This will be interspersed with commentary from religious, spiritual, philosophical and academic experts something I have not seen before. This would have to be something that would link to the fighters I follow.

I am currently in the very early stages of researching and developing this project and am just putting out some feelers and see what interest there is. Eventually I would be looking for funding or sponsorship to cover travel and expenses as the project gains momentum. If that is something you would be interested in helping with then please let me know. If you know of any fighters currently competing who would be interested in something like this then please put me in touch with them. Obviously any help given would be suitably credited and promoted.

As far as distribution goes I would be looking at suitable documentary film festivals, maybe an online release depending on support and following and exploring other options as the project proceeds.

Any other advice or useful contacts would be gratefully appreciated and even if you cannot directly help please like the https://www.facebook.com/MMADocumnetary?ref=hl

Thanks for your time.
