I agree 100%. Any injury is bad. Pain is ... well ... Painful So why not try to avoid it. Now I dont tap easily in a fight. If I have to suffer for a little if I think I can escape, then so be it. But in a training session and not in a real fight...there nothing wrong with trying to avoid injury.

Besides the fact that I think cauliflower ear is the worst looking and hardest to avoid inury...It will happen to everyone eventually.
