To be honest, it only really matters what 'you' think. If you're a fan of WMMA, what does it matter what some online nobody has to say.
It goes without saying that WMMA is no different than men's MMA in one regard - there will be fun fights, and there will be poor fights. I could see why someone might not care for Davis vs. Sexton, and that's their right.
I enjoyed the fight, it was fun. One of the better fights on a pretty boring card.
I think the skill level wasnt as good as some of the mens fights but who cares? Leanard Garcia and Korean Zombie beat the shit out of each other in one of the least technically proficient fights ever but yet that is heralded as a great fight.
Lets face it, it's rare that women have the same skill level as their male counterparts in most sports but it was a good fight so why the moaning?
I'm usually pro WMMA, but concerning this fight, I'm rather going with the naysayers. This is a fighting sport and I want to have at least the impression that the fighters could finish their opponents, so they should either show a minimum of decent technique or power, preferably both, but in this fight that wasn't really the case (same reason why I actually don't really enjoy Leonard Garcia). The striking was most of the time a nonexplosive pushing and the grappling looked like a white belt exhibition match. I mean, Davis is supposedly a BJJ black belt, had that triangle for what like over a minute or so without Sexton actually working against it (apart from the punches) and couldn't adjust to make it tighter¿
I'm not talking about what sells and what doesn't.
I don't care. It's just like pro wrestling. I dont care whos popular...I only care about what I like.
The idea was that Flyweights are hated on for inane, arbitrary reasons while women are hated on because they suck. That's the point osmisium was making.
I don't even particularly enjoy a lot of the Flyweight fights...but it's hard to deny the talent of a guy like DJ.
I think he's boring as **** and the only guys in that division I care for is Lineker and McCall(and Montague when he finally signs)...but it has nothing to do with size...it has to do with him hopping around the cage like a moron throwing 14 potshots per round. It's terrible to watch.
Rousey is a legit star and somewhat watchable...but lets not pretend she's not the only draw in the division.....any other headliner would bomb terribly.

I just think it is somewhat silly to expect women to be as athletic as men. These 2 individuals were competing on the highest level in their sport and division. When I watch women's tennis I don't think about how much harder the guys hit or how their technique is better. I enjoy it because it is still the highest level offered for women.
So in my mind hating on women for being less athletic or skilled is just as stupid as hating flyweights for being tiny.
.It was a good fight. Women/lower weights struggle to generate as much finishing power... only means we get to watch them fight for that power for longer = MMA. Closely contested MMA.
I get the feeling that some here do not understand the difference of expressing opinions and just being an a$$h0le... I am sure chauvinism will go the way of bullying.
The entire point of watching sports at a professional level is to watch talent...which pretty much every woman not named Ronda Rousey severely lacks.
If I wanted to watch bum fights I could go to a bar or any other medium of watching two randoms throw sloppy haymakers at each other until they both get tired.
There's talent at Flyweight, their size is merely aesthetic. The only problem with the division is that the champion is boring as hell. Fights like Linker-Gaudinot were objectively good by any stretch.
Not to mention women's tennis is certainly not at the level of the men, but the women certainly are talented. You don't feel cheated or like you are missing anything by watching the women's game instead of the men's. Tennis, along with volleyball are too sports that are fantastic to watch at times for women...and sometimes soccer
