Absolutely. But if you're fighting someone that's really strong and slightly competant, they're waiting for you to loosen your hold a little bit, which always happens when you reach for the nose.
It makes sense to go for the chock, because it's much harder to resist, I just always worry that somewhere between grabbing the nose and applying the choke, they'll get free. This is where I find the neck crank so useful.
