Round 1 - Big Dan Miragliotta will oversee the first fight on the main card, and we're underway with a middleweight scrap between a pair of "Ultimate Fighter" veterans. Tavares lands an outside leg kick early, then another one. McDaniel tries to go up high, but Tavares responds with a front kick that just misses its mark. Another leg kick lands for Tavares, the biggest favorite on the card tonight. McDaniel lands a good left hand, then moves inside and wraps Tavares up against the cage. But Tavares pushes away and they go back to the middle, where Tavares presses forward with a nice pair of jabs. Again, Tavares just misses a high kick, but McDaniel stays in the pocket and fires back. Tavares cathes McDaniel off-balance and lands a couple punches on the ground. He lands a good combination, but McDaniel gets in and gets a double-leg for a moment. Tavares powers back up, and McDaniel lands a low knee. Miragliotta gives Tavares time, but he says he doesn't need it. McDaniel lands again, but Tavares gets an underhook and is looking to reassert some control on the fence. They break apart with 10 seconds left, and Tavares lands a solid body kick. It's not a blowout in the first, but gives the round to Tavares, 10-9.

Round 2 - Tavares puts a good kick on McDaniel early, then lands a right that rocks him. Tavares goes right back to the body, and Tavares lands a left, then a right. McDaniel hits the canvas, but it's mostly a slip as he moved backward to try to avoid the punch. Tavares has good early momentum in the second, and again he kicks to the body. Shortly after, Tavares is off-balance and McDaniel falls right into a takedown on top. Tavares tries to push out from his back, and he gets back to his feet. The crowd starts to get a little unsettled. But the two fighters get inside and land on each other. After a scramble, McDaniel winds up on his back with Tavares kicking the legs as the crowd boos. Miragliotta stands them up. But it's another 10-9 round for Tavares.

Round 3 - McDaniel probably has to bring the urgency this round, and he lands a left hand that clips Tavares. They tie up, and Tavares lands some knees. McDaniel thinks one landed low, but Miragliotta says it didn't. McDaniel pushes him off, but seconds later, a Tavares kick leaves no doubt on where it lands – right in the mommy-daddy parts. McDaniel gets a moment to recover. Once he does, he gets in nicely and gets a double-leg takedown. He's in half-guard and is looking to set up an arm-triangle choke. Tavares gets back to guard, and he'll look for a kimura on McDaniel's left arm. "Bubba" gets his arm out and tries to take the back. He can't, and he goes back to work from Tavares' guard. Tavares defends nicely and probably has to just ride out the last 90 seconds to win the fight. McDaniel passes to side control, but Tavares gets back to half-guard. And he'll survive a rough third round. McDaniel gets the frame, 10-9, on the card, but Tavares should have the fight, 29-28.

Result: Brad Tavares def. Robert McDaniel via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
