Round 1 - Assuncao kicks low to start, but Dillashaw answers over the top. Dillashaw rushes forward but eats an early right counter. Kicks traded. Quick movement to open. Dillashaw moving forward and changing levels. He drives inside and times a takedown, but Assuncao scrambles quickly back to his feet. Dillashaw with a flurry of punches from different angles. Dillashaw the aggressor right now. Assuncao not intimidated, and he's in the pocket and answering back. Assuncao catches a Dillashaw high kick but can't convert the sweep. Dillashaw drives in fro a takedown. Assuncao stunned a bit from a short strike, and Dillashaw slides around to his back. He looks for the rear-naked choke. Assuncao's face red as he hits the floor, but he won't tap. Dillashaw relentless in his attack of the choke. Assuncao somehow surviving the hold. Great courage, but Dillashaw still in control. Assuncao escapes to the feet, and the crowd goes wild. Assuncao's left eye badly damaged. Dillashaw slips on a high kick. But he gets back up before Assuncao can capitalize. Round ends there, and gives it to Dillashaw, 10-9.

Round 2 - Low kick again fro Assuncao, and Dillashaw answers with a straight. Left hand scores for Assuncao. Dillashaw kicks the body and Assuncao grabs it. He does land a counter kick, but Dillashaw stays upright. Assuncao moving against the cage. Dillashaw trying to attack, but he eats another left hand. Dillashaw kicks the body again, but he gets blasted by a counter right. Assuncao timing that well. Dillashaw drives in for a takedown, and Assuncao grabs his neck and looks for the choke. Dillashaw scrambles and tries to pull free, but Assuncao stay tight to the neck as the crowd yells, "Put him to sleep!" He can't, and Dillashaw survives and moves back to his feet. Less than two minutes. Dillashaw checks the clock. Assuncao has Dillashaw's timing down, and he's capitalizing on the counters. Assuncao slips on a knee, but he gets to his feet without issue. Final minute, and Dillashaw works a scramble to get his opponent's back, but they're against the cage, and Assuncao alertly turns in and escapes. Dillashaw's nose bleeding, and he holds his hands low. Good punches traded to close. gives it to Assuncao, 10-9. Great fight.

Round 3 - They engage quickly in the center, and Dillashaw nearly gives up his neck. He pulls free and rifles out a high kick. Assuncao shoves him to the ground but can't get there in time to establish position. Dillashaw still working from the center, walking forward as Assuncao looks to counter. Dillashaw pushes in with a Superman punch, and Assuncao just misses looking for a takedown. Assuncao drives in but can't get it. Very tense moments with the fight hanging in the balance. Dillashaw's face bloodied, but he's the aggressor. Assuncao defensive right now but not scoring as frequently as he was in round two. Dillashaw walking forward with strikes. He looks for a late takedown, but Assuncao scrambles free. Dillashaw lands a stiff right hand in the closing seconds. Round ends on the feet, and gives it to Dillashaw, 10-9 based on the aggression, awarding him the fight 29-28. Super, super close round. Could go either way.

Result: Raphael Assuncao def. T.J. Dillashaw via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)
