TUF 18 Episode 7 in review: Zoned in (spoiler alert)
After the fighters return home, it becomes obvious that the majority of them are homesick. It is even more painful for the fathers in the house since it’s Father’s Day. Out of the kindness of her heart, Ronda Rousey and her coaching staff come in with father’s day gifts, mostly something to do with the fathers’ family and a picture as part of the gift. She even gives one to Team Tate’s Cody Bollinger. Bollinger is so touched that he goes to the bag in his room and looks at his families picture, then begins to cry.
During the training session for Team Tate, the coaching staff decides to pull a prank on Team Rousey and puts up a bunch of pictures of a movie character that reminds them of a cross between Rousey and Team Rousey Trainer Edmond Tarverdyan.
However, once Team Tate clears out of the gym, Dana White walks in and takes all the pictures he can find down in order to try and avoid any incidents. Unfortunately he misses a few and Anthony Guttierez finds one in the sauna. Tarverdyan sees one and leaves the gym completely. Once Rousey sees one she goes on a rant.
Finally Josh Hill and Michael Wootten weigh-in with Wootten having to strip naked and flashing Rousey by accident. The fight happens and during the first round, Hill utilizes his wrestling to take Wootten down and commence ground and pound.
However in the second round, Wootten uses Hill’s game plan against him by using his larger build. Because both fighters won one round each, the fight goes to a third round where Wootten once again controls Hill on the ground. As most figured out, Wootten was awarded the win by the judges.
Immediately after the fight when Tate tries to shake hands with Rousey, Rousey instead flips her off in response to the prank that Team Tate pulled earlier. Even though Team Rousey regains control, the final two preliminary fights are set by default.
The first match by default is Team Rousey’s Peggy Moran against Team Tate’s Sarah Moras. The second match by default is between Team Rousey’s Anthony Gutierez against Team Tate’s Cody Bollinger. Both fights will take place in the same episode which will be broadcast in two weeks due to a highlight recap show that will be shown next week.
