i was just doing some research and came upon the "Church's official list of banned books". not only does it have a very interestin history (there are over 4,000 books on this list), but in this quick listing of some of the banned authors, i found myself reading a list of names contained humanities greatest thinkers... officially, the church has "banned" all free thought and logical inquiry... essentially... anything that the bible doesn't tell you, is heretical...
look at this list and tell me religion, or moreso, the church doesn't make you want to vomit!
