See IMO if the fight hits the gorund and Condit is on his back, he is so active looking for subs and striking from the bottom that Diego would look to keep the fight standing. I can't recall anyone (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) that diego has face that is more active on the bottom (going for subs and strikes) as Condit is. Condit just doesn't stop. So I think like you said he would have to control Condit when Condit is on his back.
But if Diego some how ends up on his back, I just don't see it going well for him. Condit is well versed with his strikes by mixing up punches with elbows. But I think the only way Diego wins is by decision. Sorry if it comes off as nuthugging on my part for Condit, but I just see him as having more ways to win than Diego.
