So, Basically, Steve Maxwell Knows Alotta Sh*t
Steve Maxwell (Submission wrestling genius, BJJ blackbelt and conditioning savant) has been working out of my gym for a while, because the coach that gave him his blackbelt (Regis Libre) got his blackbelt from my instructor, and since Steve's been out here, he wanted to train in the lineage with someone that he knew was good.
Steve is one of the smartest dudes I've ever worked with (not as great at jiu-jitsu as my instructor, but definitely more open to teaching wrestling and leglocks) and if I tried to write down all of the stuff I worked with him on in class today, it'd take forever, so I'll pace myself over the course of a couple of days.
The most important thing, though, is the importance of dynamic stretches. If you've never seen the maxorcist (one of his dynamic stretching routines that works literally every muscle you use in a fight, you should check it out.
Apparently, static stretching actually physically weakens the body, and so the dynamic stretching really helps to keep strong. I didn't do as much dynamic stuff just hanging around, but now I'm definitely going to.
That's just one of the thing I learned from the guy today, and I figured it deserved its own post.
More to come.
