DREAM is back ONCE AGAIN, with another great card! It's the 1st Round of the Middleweight GrandPrix...and it's going to be amazing!

Participants include: Kang, Sakuraba, Tamura, Funaki, Akiyama, Jacare, Galesic, Minowa, and MANY MORE! Going to be another awesome Grand Prix!

Also on this card, we'll see the much-anticipated rematch from the 1st Round of the Lightweight Grand Prix...which ended in a No Contest. We all know the combatants: two of the absolute BEST 155 lb. fighters in the sport today! Shinya Aoki & JZ Calvan! The winner of this fight will move onto the 2nd Round, to face Katsuhiko Nagata!

DREAM RETURNS on April 29th to the Saitama Super Arena! YES, it is back for the second event of its existence, OLYMPIA.DREAM.2: MIDDLE WEIGHT GRANDPRIX 1st Round! Incredible!

Shinya Aoki vs Gesias JZ Calvancante

Round 1

Fighters come out, with JZ pushing the pace early on. Aoki manages to get a flying guard, but after a short while, he lets up and they clinch against the corner. Aoki takes down JZ to mount but JZ reverses and ends up in tight guard. Referee now restarts fight in the center. Aoki is attempting a strong rubber guard but JZ escapes and begins throwing strikes. Aoki now manages to whether the storm and get a hold of JZ's leg in an attempt to get a leg lock. JZ however throws several ax kicks from bottom which stun Aoki and he lets go. JZ now throws an onslaught of strikes but Aoki recovers and they clinch in the corner.

5 minutes to go and Aoki has JZ's back and is attempting to take him down. Aoki now attempts a standing RNC with body triangle, to which JZ defends well. Aoki attempts to soften JZ with strikes from the back before trying the RNC once more. JZ seems to have the strength, but Aoki has the technique. JZ now drops to a squatting position has Aoki tries relentlessly to sink in the choke.

Two minutes to go in the first round and the fight gets reset in the center of the ring, with Aoki maintaining back mount with a strong body triangle. JZ manages to free himself from the body lock and stands to throw strikes, to which Aoki answers with his own upkicks as the bell goes.

Round 2


Both fighters circle now, with JZ pushing the pace. They clinch and Aoki drops back and pulls rubber guard. Aoki goes for an armbar but it is loose and fails. They restart standing again but Aoki catches JZ with another successful flying guard. A loose omoplatta attempt by Aoki leads to another stand up. Aoki follows JZ around the ring in a buttscoot position, throwing up kicks, but JZ dives for a superman punch and lands a couple strikes. Aoki now gets JZ a omoplatta/grapevine submission attempt which leads to an armbar but JZ rolls out of it. 30 seconds to go and JZ postures and throws strikes, but Aoki nullifies them with his tight guard. The bell goes as the fight is over.

Result: Shinya Aoki via Unanimous Decision

Ikuhisa Minowa vs Taiei Kin

Round 1

No red undies, but the mullet is in full effect as Minowa begins to push the pace immediately as he goes for the takedown. However Kin sprawls and throws a high kick of his own. Minowa dives for another takedown, which he gets, but Kin scrambles again. Kin now pushing the action as he lands several low, and body kicks, and sprawling at Minowa's takedowns. Minowa finally gets the takedown but is unable to do much in Kin's guard. Two minutes pass as Minowa tries fruitlessly to inflict any sort of strike in Kin's guard. They stand again, but Minowa immediately gets another takedown and regains top position, this time, landing a few strikes. Minowa finally rolls out of guard and gets side control, but Kin scrambles and throws several leg kicks, as Minowa's thighs begin to welt.

Half way through the 1st round now and both fighters circle on their feet, respectively landing several punches on one another. Minowa with another takedown, with what seems to be a slow descent to a heel hook. The fatigued fighters get reset on their feet by the referee as he issues Kin with a yellow card. After the reset, Kin rushes Minowa, landing several kicks and knees in the corner of the ring. Another takedown from Minowa leads to a slower pace now as both the end of the round follows.

Round 2

Round 2 brings a rather refreshed Minowa, but with the same game plan as he gets another takedown. After almost 2 minutes of inactivity, the referee orders another reset, this time, Minowa coming out strong and landing several straights as Kin goes for the takedown. Both fighters trade again, Kin gets Minowa in a headlock after a sprawl and begins throwing knees at the command of his corner. Minowa appears to be pretty fatigued now as Kin gets a plumb clinch and lands several strong knees. Kin finally closes the round with more damaging knees from clinch.

Result: Taiei Kin via Unanimous Decision

Yoon Dong Sik vs Shungo Oyama

Round 1:

Dong comes out quick with a leg kick as fighters begin to set their distance. A couple quick straights from Dong as he shoots in for a quick take down. Oyama gets an omoplatta as he tries to transition to the armbar, but Dong rolls out and postures for body shots. Dong struggles but gets the side mount as he begins to throw shots to the head and elbows to the body, but Oyama quickly rolls to half guard. Dong reverses and gets mount, (a quick shot of Akiyama in the stands and the crowd begins to boo). Dong tries to soften his opponent with strikes from the top and attempts an armbar, but Oyama defeds and rolls and gets to his feet.

With two minutes to go, both fighters circle and land their respective leg kicks. A big right from Oyama, but Dong answers with his own. A takedown from Dong leads to Oyama pulling guard with the round coming to a close.

Round 2

Round 2 starts with a fast pace being set. Dong quickly lands a big right that drops Oyama, but Oyama cartwheels back and stands. Dong gets a big takedown by the corner, but they are forced to reset in the center. Dong lands a superman punch to the downed Oyama and quickly rolls to his back then mount. A combination of head to body strikes by Dong from the mount appears to be softening Oyama up. Dong now postures and unleashes a vicious flurry of ground and pound with the fight coming to a close.

Result:

Zelg Galesic vs Magomed Sultanakhmedov

Round 1:

A quick flurry from Galesic starts the fight. Magomed gets a takedown and tries for a guillotine, but Zelg escapes. Magomed tries to reverse but Galesic quickly sinks in a deep armbar which forces Magomed to tap.

Result: Zelg Galesic Via Armbar 1:20 Rnd 1

(Extremely classy post-fight from Galesic as he thanks Yoon Dong Sik for helping him to realize he needs to work on his ground game.)

Ronaldo "Jacare" De Souza vs Ian Murphy

Round 1:

Fight starts with Jacare throwing a big flying knee and ending in guard. Jacare now rolls out and gets a very quick armbar after throwing some vicious knees to Murphy. After struggling for nearly a minute, Jacare lets go and gets Murphy's back controlling his opponent at will. After ground and pounding his opponent, Jacare manages to sink in a rear naked choke, forcing his Murphy to tap.

Kiyoshi Tamura vs Masakatsu Funaki

Round 1:

Round 1 starts with Tamura getting the better of the early standup, with a series of kicks, but Funaki begins to answer back with his own. Another flurry of punches, as Tamura throws Funaki down and finishes him quickly with hammerfists.

Denis Kang vs Gegard Mousasi

Round 1:

Kang comes out quick, landing a 1-2 combo, then getting the takedown. Kang jostles for position to get half guard as he tries for a kimura. Kang loses the arm from side mount but stands up to ground and pound, but merely gives himself up to Mousasi as Gegard easily sinks in the triangle and taps Kang.

Kazushi Sakuraba vs Andrews Nakahara

Round 1:

Sakuraba starts the round with an early high kick attempt. A brief exchange of leg kicks leads to a single scramble for takedown by Sakuraba as Nakahara defends well. They clinch in the corner as the ref calls for a reset. A leg kick attempt by Nakahara leads to an inadvertent groin shot to Sakuraba. After a minute of recovery, the fight is allowed to continue.

A strong highkick by Nakahara seemed to have found it's place and hurt Sakuraba, but not phased him. After struggling in the clinch for about a minute, referee Yuji Shimada calls for a reset. Nakahara drops Sakuraba with a leg kick but Sakuraba reverses and tries for top control, but Nakahara sprawls out and they clinch in the corner. Finally Sakuraba gets the takedown and gains side mount. From here he begins to throw knees and shots to the body. Sakuraba now gets his back and tries for the RNC, to which Nakahara reluctantly taps.

Result: Kazushi Sakuraba Via Submission (RNC)
