The two party system is an incredibly effective system of suppression. As long as the people are content to blame the imaginary other side for their issues (which they're encouraged/brainwashed to do from every imaginable direction, from the church to the media to the educational system to the politicians themselves), the pendulum continues to swing back and forth, while the corporations and wealthy elite continue to act as the fulcrum. They benefit no matter who's in office while the people are squeezed no matter who's in office, as well.

We need to get back to strong state and local governments and more importantly, a society that counts on themselves and others, rather than the government. That's not going to happen without a fight, political or otherwise.
