I'm a southpaw (we're just not right) and I know what you are talking about. Works great in fights when the other fighter looks for the "regular" stance, but when being taught striking it does make it tough. Jiu Jitsu it's great in that there is no "regular" way of doing it. You will find grasping the moves a lot easier than with the striking.
Just remember, since left southpaws use the right side of the brain ONLY southpaws are in their right mind!
