Did anybody else think that it was strange that all of the fights during the TUF 4 finale stayed standing 95% of the time? I'm convinced that the fighters were told to try and keep it standing at all costs.
I didn't think it was strange. I don't remember every last detail, but the fights I liked, there was one guy wanting to go down, but couldn't get a take down. so naturally they stayed standing. Why go to the ground if you can be better on your feet? Keep it on the feet if you have an advantage.
Sell/Smith - bangers
Clementi/Thomas - both gifted strikers, both wanted to strike
Serra/Lytle - Serra wanted to get Lytle to the ground, but didn't suceed
Cote/Lutter - Well, you saw the fight
Kampmann/Leites - Kampmann is a striker and picked apart Leites so much Leites didn't have the energy to take him down
Rivera/Dewees - Ended early but Riveras plan, like it always is, is to clinch and punish his opponent, if the fight would have lasted longer Dewees would have looked for the takedown
I hope this helps, so you dont think the event was "staged" or anything.
