All fights are unique and there are no guarantees regardless of talent etc, if indeed liddell did lose surely retirement shouldnt be considered?

Yeah, I have to say that's ridiculous. Although a retirement this early would preserve his record, it wouldn't necessarily be good for him financially or mentally. He is a guy who is driven to compete and if he retired after Rashad, he'd be very unhappy knowing he is still able compete but isn't. He'd probably come back out after just a year or two.
