Now this fight isn't one probably half of the forum have thought about but trust me it is probably the best match up talent wise on this card.
David Baron vs Jim Miller.
David Baron is a guy some of the international MMA guys know. He actually just beat Sakurai and he fought Gomi not to long ago.
And he's fighting one of the best young LW's in MMA.
Jim Miller has one loss to Frankie Edgar and is an amazing ground fighter. In fact he dominanted a good IFL fighter in Bart Palaszewski.
Personally I think Miller will be a LW contender in the next year so I'm picking him but both of these guys are good enough to compete with the top LW's in the UFC and this match up is IMO a big deal.
Personally I think of greatest matchups in terms of what fight will feature two contenders and lots of action. Though your thought is a good one and it is sure to be a great fight. I think the best matchups are between contenders. Such as Bisping vs Leben or Diego Vs Alves. I do get your point though......
Yes I got my events mixed up for a second. My apologies. I do enjoy seeing evenly matches. But I would rather watch an action packed fight between contenders. And if those guys are so much more talented than why arent they where Leben and Bisping are.. I doubt either one of those guys can take a punch like Leben can. Leben has a granite chin and lots of heart. Bisping is very talented. They are both contenders. Maybe Miller and Baron will be one day. But right now. Leben and Bisping will be a more exciting fight that will actually mean something other than a spot filler....
Yep I really wish they would show it. The Miller brothers are crazy talented better then the guys from TUF 5 and 7 IMO. And Baron is one of the most underrated LW's in the world.
People who know who he is realise that he's a decent talent.
I also am looking forward to this match-up.
Not too happy with the match making on this card.
Welterweight fights are...
Akihiro Gono vs. Dan Hardy
Marcus Davies vs. Paul Kelly
Chris Lytle vs. Paul Taylor
Gono vs. Hardy is ridiculous. Hardy is a very fun fighter and they should of put him in there with Paul Taylor. They would of had a great fight, but with this, Gono will just sub him quickly when it hits the ground.
Akihiro Gono vs. Marcus Davies
Chris Lytle vs. Paul Kelly
Dan Hardy vs. Paul Taylor
Jeez, these match-ups are so so so so so so much better.
The 3 best guys there, Gono, Lytle and Davies, and none of them are fighting each other. WTF is up with that?
Damn, I think Liaudin vs Bielkheden is going to be fireworks. David Bielkheden's mad underrated, and the guy can bring the fun when need be. Liaudin does some wonky kicks. This should be badass.
Someone is going to die in the Sokky vs Cane fight.
Ahhh, such a fun card, I'll go with Gono vs Hardy.
I think Baron can beat Miller. I was very surprised when he beat Sakurai. I'd say I'm looking forward to the Sokoudjou/Cane fight the most. If Machida was still on the card it would have to be his fight by far.
Shane Carwin vs. Neil Wain .... im in the mood for some KOing and both these guys are undefeated and have finished all their fights in the 1st round. hell yeah !!!
You are sick with this talent stuff. Talent is what you start with. That doesnt make you become a top ten fighter. Talent mixed with heart, stamina, power, hard work, and dedication is what makes you a top ten level fighter. Talent isnt everything. And how there are only 10 alowed in a top ten. So how do you figure there are 30 LWs who could be considered top 10. Frankly all that matters to me are wins. Every wieght class is tough. It is difficult to be in the top ten in any wieght class. I simply enjoy the ranked fighters better. I love all fights, but the ones that are between ranked fighters seem to have more at stake..
ok man that is why the guy who couldnt beat the top 2 guys in the WW moved down to LW and he has dominated everyone. Wow the are so talented in the LW....:confused02: And if the WW guy moved to MM they would have some trouble..... They arent more talented, they are just more action packed. and full of mostly close decision fights....
Even though I wouldn't use Frankie Edgar as an example. His fight with Maynard kinda showed that he's a bit small compaired to the bigger guys at 155lbs, there are alot of tough wrestlers there and that is Frankie's strength, the fact that they are bigger than him puts him at a big disadvantage. I think 145 would be great for Edgar. I'm really looking forward to his fight with Matt Wiman.
The LW division is really good, but the main problem is that the champ is just too good to beat right now. With the MW division, there are several interesting match-ups for Anderson Silva. I can only think of Florian (Who I think would get worked), Griffin (Who needs work before he even fights Penn) and Sherk in a rematch to face Penn at LW.
Still, look at the other LW's, you got guys like Baron, Gono, hardy, Stout, Clementi, Etim, maynard, Tavares, Pellegrino, Joe Daddy, Tibau, Edgar, Franca and many more. Freakin' solid, I tells ya.
Gono and Hardy aren't 155, Damone. I agree with what you're saying though.
BJ is the best in stand-up and on the ground compared to everyone else in the LW division, at least with Anderson Silva, you have guys who are better on the ground than he is, and guys who can take him down.
Ok this is my last reply on this subject. The LW seems to be so "talented" and there seems to be 30 top 10 fighters simply because of one reason. The guys a LW are all very close to each other in Skill level. That is why you see so many close fights, they are all small so they naturally have great stamina so they are always action packed. The are always close because most of them dont have the power to land a fight changing shot. Take Spencer Fisher vs Sam Stout. Those guy puched each other in the face many times. But no one got stunned. Lw is great for entertaining, action packed, close fights. But that doesnt equal them being any more talented than the other weight classes. You mean to tell me that the smaller you are the more talented you are. Come on man that is just retarded. There are alot of guys who train together in camps, LW train with Middle W. LHW tain with HW ext. And Anderson Silva's striking is a level above BJ s. I like LW but to say that they are more talented because they are smaller is not making sense to me......:confused02:
