Top 10 North American PPV buy rates, 2008

1. Boxing: Oscar De La Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao, Dec. 6, 1,250,000

2. UFC: Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Couture, Nov. 15, 1,010,000

3. Wrestling: WrestleMania, Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Paul “Big Show” Wight, March 30, 670,000

4. UFC: Georges St. Pierre vs. Jon Fitch/Lesnar vs. Heath Herring, Aug. 9, 625,000

5. UFC: Lesnar vs. Frank Mir, Feb. 2, 600,000

6. UFC: Quinton Jackson vs. Forrest Griffin, July 5, 540,000

7. UFC: St. Pierre vs. Matt Serra, April 19, 530,000

8. Boxing: Felix Trinidad vs. Roy Jones Jr., Jan. 19, 500,000

9. UFC: Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans, Sept. 6, 480,000

10. UFC: B.J. Penn vs. Sean Sherk/Tito Ortiz vs. Lyoto Machida, May 24, 475,000

Lesnar clearly drawing alot of attention as his 3 events are in the top 5 PPV #'s so far in 2008. This of course does not take into account, Dec. 27, which should be a substantial draw.

I wonder if next year they will beat boxing with the Top PPV of the year. I'm assuming that DLH won't be in a massive fight next year, like he has been these past two years with Floyd and Pacman. And Boxing is struggling without DLH, he's their biggest draw by a street.

Cant believe 84 was number 10! Before it happened and now I think it was the best event of the year

^^ Dont ever do that again.

Pac-Man - Hatton will get huge numbers, just not as big in North America.

If Mayweather Vs Pac happens it will be the biggest PPV ever. Wrestlemania will always have a spot on that top 10 list aswell.

Nice to see 7 out of 10 are UFC.

To think Mayweather vs Big Show got the kind of coverage it did is sad... How is that even a sport, I ask myself.

I predicted this in another thread too but I think UFC 92 will get between 700,000 and 750,000 buys to put it in 3rd.
