Hi everyone, just out of curiosity...

is it possible for a guy whos been training in mma for 15 years lose to a guy whos been training mma for 2 years?

I was doing some research on mma fighters who started late...how did they end up beating guys whos been training all of they re lives?

ex. the fighters are the same age..lets say 20 years old

lets say the guy with more experience is taller and stronger too.

but if the less experience guy keeps training, could he catch up to the other guy in skills?

Don't know if this is a troll post since its your first, but i'll be nice and think you're genuinely wondering. The answer is: of course!

This applies to all sports. Lebron was/is young in the NBA, but he's one of the best players in the league, if not the best. Look at the NFL and all the rookies this year that are tearing it up.

People are born with genes that naturally allow them to be more athletic and gifted in certain areas. BJ Penn is a great example as someone born for the sport, as is GSP. Of course they have to work hard, but not as hard as say...Kenny Florian would have to to be successful.

So yes, someone with little experience can definitely win depending on how hard they work and how lucky they are as well.

Yes its possible. Especially if the guy with less experience is ultra dedicated or athletic. Take an elite level athlete who trains 3 times a day 6 days a week with top flight comp for two years vs. a guy with 15 years experience who trains 4 times a week for 2 hours with average comp and is an average or slightly above average athlete and the less experienced guy I would take in that one. There are so many other variables. Yes its possible.

This is the fundamental reason why MMA is so great. The level of fighter is so high now compared to any other time in the sport's history, and yet still, skill isn't everything. When you have two guys--or gals--in a ring where the object is to win via physical damage, submission, or a lucky punch, anything can happen. It adds that element of randomness that will never be overcome!
