Console versions always get dumbed down a bit I think. Just for the limitations on what a console can do.
I enjoyed Oblivion's story actually...but there were just so many dungeons and places to explore that i often got sidetracked for hours...especially hoarding my ill-gotten goods in my houses as a thief hehe
