The first thing in cardio training it to monitor your heart rate, finding your max heart rate, our resting heart rate and your recovery time (the time it takes your heart rate to get back to its normal level after exercise) In my exeperience, running, elliptical training, and jumping rope are the best cardio excercises. You can prolong the training with less burn by using a product like Cytomax or enduromax. I know from personal experience that they absolutly work.
I have an amazing heart rate calculating file if your interested, its very informative and in depth, its mainly aimed at cyclists, but it translates over to any cardio training.
