like MMAPassion mentioned, pushups will tone... so you can do pushups everyday... but if you want to build mass, you gotta tear those muscle fibres so that they can rebuild. Bench really heavy weight that you can barely edge out a few reps to tear those pec fibres... and down the protein to help your body with repair.
