One of the main reason the points were reset was because the betting odds use to be ridiculous. The idea was to have realistic odds so that smart betting would actually mean somthing, and thus points would mean more/be more fun to bet with.

This way you only get the big payoffs if you go for the big risks. For July 19th the big potential payoff is Franca vs. Edgar. Or choosing obe of the underdogs, but that is obviously very risky.
