AfflictionWorld renowned MMA clothing company, Affliction, reached into their pockets and pulled together an organization of top fighters, marketed & publicized by Affliction Entertainment VP, Tom Atencio. This organization, unlike their competition, is open to cross-promotion.
Outside of the "first time show" kinks in the program, I liked the look and feel of this event a lot more than UFC. There was a lot less fluff between fights (outside of needless megadeth performances) and most importantly, we saw EVERY FIGHT on the card. Wow!
I would much rather see more Affliction events than keep spending my money on UFC PPV's. This event actually made me look forward to UFC 87 less. There's just no comparison to me.

Not me man, I hate everything about this show outside of some of the fights themselves, it made me appreciate just how good the UFC puts there programming together wathing UFN directly after, I dont think outside of making the fights Affliction did anything commendable, although even that was done more so as to have a marquee name in every fight than to have great fights, am I the only one who would have much rather seen Lil Nog/Babalu and Dewees/Whitehead since both fights seemed one sided.
Is there anyone who actually thinks that Fedor defeating Tim sylvia makes him the best in the world. Not even close, Dont Get me wrong right now in the heavywieght class he is the best in the world, as someone said until proven otherwise. But hypeing this fight up to be such a great card is awefull. Tim Sylvia always has been terrible, he was terrible even when he wore the UFC belt. Lack of competition in your organization doesnt make you the best in the world. Until we see Fedor and Randy we wont know. Sorry if I hurt your feelings but Tim was a terrible fighter, Who got lucky to be in the right place and hit the right shot. Anyone who knows fighting knows that anyone can win at anytime if the shot is right, However even trying to compare Fedor with Tim is an embarressment. We as fans need to push for the real test Fedor and Randy to finally put this to rest.

Getting beaten by Fedor does NOT mean you are terrible. Timmy may not be #1 but he is definitely a top 10 HW still.

...I would say Frank Trigg hit it on the nose with his quote, "Fedor is the most incredible fighter you will ever see". WOW! 36 seconds in the bank! We all know Tim has a good chin but MAN!...Fedor's hooks dropped Tim like a sack of potatos! As soon as he took Tim's back, I knew Fedor would sink in those hooks and get the rear naked. Fedor is simply the best in the world. It took Randy Couture 5 rounds to dominate Tim Sylvia. It only took 36 seconds for Fedor to do it...and in stunning fashion. Nobody has ever dropped Tim Sylvia FACE DOWN with that kind of power & intensity. Point Blank -Randy is one of my favs, but he does not possess that devastating KO power like Fedor does.
I personally feel that when Randy & Fedor fight, I see Randy suffering a final career ending brutal knockout, similiar to the way Chuck Liddell did it. Yes, Randy is a better fighter today, but he just won't be able to stop Fedor's vicious onslaught.
P.S. How about Anderson Silva with another highlight reel at 205! The Spider is dominating the UFC and I bet Forrest Griffin got a chill watching Silva last night!
I would probably never pay for an Affliction PPV. The show itself was better than CBS, except for Megadeth. The only fighter that would make me watch it is Fedor, maybe Little Nog. I just really wasn't impressed with the fighters for the most part. There were flashes of good moments. But they weren't guys I'd want to watch fight again for the most part.

The UFC event wasn't the most thrilling thing either. I think the cards were basically balanced in terms of excitement, although the UFC's presentation was much, much better. But I give Affliction a break in that department, its their first show. The UFC's first, oh, thirty shows looked barely better than that.

UFC had much better presentation but their fights were nothing compared to Afflictions.
Edgar vs Franca was good, CB vs Taylor was cool, Johnson vs Burns ended in a terrible way which ruined the fight, Cain's fight was a fun dominantion, Vera's fight put me to sleep, and Anderson KO'd a average fighter.
Meanwhile on Affliction we got to see Pyle dominant in a fun fight, Nog dominate, Lindland have a boring fight but it was better than Vera's, Babalu fight which was fun, Hominick vs Young which was fun, Barnett vs Rizzo was good and the post fight interview was great, Arlovski vs Rothwell was the best fight of the night by far, and then Fedor shocked people by KO'in Sylvia.
Fight wise Affliction was much better just their presentation isn't close to UFC's.

I actually think the Elite XC show on CBS was much better put together than the Affliction card they just didnt have the fighters.
