AfflictionWorld renowned MMA clothing company, Affliction, reached into their pockets and pulled together an organization of top fighters, marketed & publicized by Affliction Entertainment VP, Tom Atencio. This organization, unlike their competition, is open to cross-promotion.
According to Dan Rafael of ESPN.com, as well as sources close to the situation, former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski will be crossing over from MMA to boxing later this year when he makes his debut on the undercard of the September 13th Joel Casamayor-Juan Manuel Marquez clash. Arlovski, who will be fighting Ben Rothwell on the upcoming July 19th "Affliction: Banned" card, has been working on his boxing with world-renowned trainer Freddie Roach for quite some time now. "Arlovski's a good student. He and BJ Penn are the best strikers that I've worked with who are involved in MMA," stated Roach.
Should be interesting to see. The first MMA fighter to go into boxing. We saw what happened and a pro wrestler goes into MMA, that didn't go like some people thought. Lets see what happens here. Will we see a pro boxer try MMA some day?

Terry Martin had his debut not so long ago 70seven, but an MMA fighter of the name recognition that Arlovski has, yeah the first one - should be interesting.
Glad that it's on the Marquez/Casamayor card aswell, Marquez to win btw

Fedor vs. Andrei Arlovski - DEMOLISHED
Vitor Belfort has one pro fight, as well. Arlovski isn't the first, but definitely one of the biggest names.

MMA star Andrei Arlovski, the former UFC heavyweight champion from Belarus, has been training for a boxing career under the tutelage of trainer Freddie Roach. Arlovski, who has an MMA bout July 19, likely will make his professional boxing debut Sept. 13 (HBO PPV) in the opening fight on the Casamayor-Marquez card in Las Vegas, according to Golden Boy.
Is this just a way to build up his striking skills or a permanent move? I sure hope its only temporary because with him out of the UFC there are a lot of fights I want to see with him involved.
