Is Anderson Silva too good for his own good?

Driving home from Montreal on Sunday afternoon, my BlackBerry kept blowing up with comments about the Anderson Silva-Thales Leites fight at UFC 97. Here's a quick sample:

"Seriously guys, give Silva a break. I know it was a boring fight, but like many of the people have said already, what do you expect Silva to do when Leites flops onto the ground? Jump into his submissions?" - Unknown

"Leites dove to the ground more then a russian hockey player" -mark

"First off if you can't respect the superior fighting of anderson silva than you are an idiot who has never fought anyone and probably too fat to get off your couch. I am a fighter and I tell you this, he is the greatest fight of our time." - noneof yourbusiness

There seem to be two camps here: one that blames Silva, the UFC middleweight champion, for not getting more aggressive, and one that blames Leites for flopping like Portland's Arvydas Sabonis defending the Lakers' Shaquille O'Neal.

Anderson needs to fight GSP or move up to 205

...Anderson Silva has pretty much wiped out the MW division. After seeing that 1st round destruction of James Irwin, it's time for Anderson to put his skills in with the sharks at 205. Silva would be tested for sure if he fought GSP. That would be an incredible match-up. There are plenty of 205 guys that would bring out the best in Anderson Silva.
...Who knows, Anderson is capable of starting a warpath in the LHW division. That would be really amazing.

Anderson Silva just fights a smart fight. He's always done it. The only problem is that his last two opponents knew that they couldn't come forward like Silva's other opponents, therefore making it somewhat boring. I think Silva should take on the LHW division and test his skills there. I think that would be Silva's best move at this point in his career.

It isn't Anderson's fault that he is just that damn good. As D.P. said, he just fights a very smart fight, and doesn't give up silly oppurtunites.

I think what Silva has proven here after UFC 101 is that the previous two fights were disappointing because of who Dana paired him up against. Fact is, Silva is a beast and if you are going up against him, you have to be top of your class. They may have been great fighters but they were not in the same league as Silva. He fought intelligently and did the best he could against someone who spent more time on his back then an $5 hooker. He was just as pissed off as everyone else with the fight but he did what was smart and that's why he won.

His KO of Forrest in the first round I think is proof enough that "The Spider" is still a great fighter and should move up to 205 and fight some of the top guys in that division (Shogun vs Silva anyone?).
