R1: Warren looks to establish his jab while Marx almost leaps in with low roundhouse kicks. As soon as Marx plants his feet and commits to a combo, Warren attacks his hips and brings him down with the body lock. It's the body lock again that allows Warren to counter Marx's escape, but Marx spins Warren on the fence and lands some rather loudly thudding knees to the midsection. Nice fake left/uppercut combo on the way in for Marx, who leaps in with another low kick.

Warren shoots a double and then topples Marx from the body lock in the ensuing clinch. Marx tries to hip escape but this time Warren feeds him an elbow and a series of rights to the face to dissuade him. Warren keeps good posture from a high half guard and stays busy with short left hands, pinching Marx's legs to prevent the cagewalk. Marx eats a knee to the body on the way back up to his feet but gets tossed to the canvas again. 10-9 Warren.

R2: Warren tries a leaping knee and the crowd reacts. Warren wastes no time in tying up Marx with a double leg and then nearly transitions to the back as Marx stands. He settles for a half waist cinch and rockets a blistering knee to the face from Marx's blind side that crumples him.

Joe Warren defeats Travis Marx by KO (knee), Round 1
